Coated Flat-rolled Steel
Steel Dynamics has made a significant investment in state of the art facilities for finish-coating flat roll sheet. We operate three galvanizing lines in Indiana, three in Pennsylvania (The Techs facilities), and one in Mississippi. We operate two modern continuous coil coating lines in Indiana that allow us to ship pre-painted steel with the shortest cycle times in the industry.
Metallic-coated steel sheet
Each of SDI’s eight galvanizing lines provides specialized capabilities—handling specific widths and thicknesses and providing process options such as Galvanneal and Galvalume. For example, one of our facilities is capable of galvanizing cold rolled, thin-gauge steel that is only .0074 inches thick.
Painted steel sheet
Our painting facilities make us uniquely a one-stop shop for pre-painted steel coils for a variety of end uses. Steel from our minimill is supplied directly to the paint line, where it is primed and finish-painted on one or both sides in colors specified by the customer.
Annual capacity coated steel coils in 2014
3.2 million tons*
*Capacity includes Flat Roll Group Butler and Columbus Divisions and The Techs. The Columbus minimill was acquired by SDI on September 16, 2014; the mill has 1.1 million tons of annual coating capacity.
