What we do
We are one of the largest domestic steel producers and metal recyclers in the United States, with one of the most diversified product and end-market portfolios in the domestic steel industry. We operate using a circular manufacturing model, producing lower-carbon-emission, quality steel using electric arc furnace (EAF) technology with recycled ferrous scrap as the primary input. Our circular economy is driven by the passion and dedication of our innovative teams at each of our operating platforms: steel, steel fabrication, and metals recycling.
Steel Operations
Our steel operations produce steel products, including hot roll, cold roll, and coated sheet steel, structural steel beams and shapes, rail, engineered special-bar-quality steel, cold finished steel, merchant bar products, and specialty steel sections. These operations primarily consist of our six EAF steel mills and numerous value-added coating operations with approximately 16 million tons of steel shipping capability.
Steel Fabrication
Our steel fabrication operations produce structural steel joist and deck building systems. Our steel fabrication operations have a national operating footprint that allows us to serve the entire domestic construction market, as well as national accounts.
Metals Recycling
Our metals recycling operations collect and process ferrous and nonferrous scrap from manufacturing and end-of-life items, such as automobiles, appliances, and machinery. This processed scrap is then sold to end-users for reuse, including our EAF steel mills. Our metals recycling operations are strategically located primarily in close proximity to our steel mills and other end-user scrap consumers, throughout the United States, and Central and Northern Mexico.

Focus on the Future
We are proud to announce we set a goal for our EAF steel mill operations to be carbon neutral by 2050. To achieve this target, we also set interim emissions reduction and renewable energy milestones to be achieved by 2025 and 2030.
20% reduction in our steel mills’ Scope 1 and Scope 2 combined GHG emission intensity by 2025. Increase our steel mills’ use of renewable electrical energy to 10% by 2025.
50% reduction in our steel mills’ Scope 1 and Scope 2 combined GHG emission intensity by 2030. Increase our steel mills’ use of renewable electrical energy to 30% by 2030.

Transformational Growth
Our new Sinton, Texas Flat Roll Steel Mill will utilize the next generation of electric arc furnace steelmaking with the ability to produce the latest generation of advanced high-strength steels, using lower-carbon electric arc furnace technology. It provides us with transformational, competitively advantaged strategic growth, with associated long-term value creation for all of our stakeholders.
