Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Support installation, start-up and optimization of machine vision quality monitoring systems. Support maintenance of monitoring systems, identify new opportunities for automated inspection systems, ensure installed automation inspection systems are functioning optimally, and incorporate SMART Manufacturing principles and tools
• Support production departments in improving visual inspection methodologies, establish report and data storage procedures, maintain surface monitoring system reliability
• Mentor users of the SQM systems to improve their understanding of the systems’ capabilities and using them to ensure that the product meets or exceeds the customer requirements.
• Create routines and streamline surface quality inspection operations using the surface monitoring system software, optics, and image data acquiring instruments
• Analyze data from inspection operations to provide result reports and non-conformance reports
• Work closely with technical personnel within each functional production unit to develop, refine, and maintain surface quality imaging technologies, train and coach staff, define reaction plans, assist in troubleshooting and repairs
• Participate in company internal audits and support customer audits to meet quality system goals
• Coordinate corrective actions for surface quality issues, working with operations teams, other departments, or the customers to develop sustainable solutions.
• Maintain quality departmental documentation and perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or similar manufacturing experience
• 2+ years experience in designing, installing, and maintaining optical scanning technologies.
• Experience with Surface Inspection Systems in rolled aluminum sheet products
• A documented track record of successful project implementation, good communication skills, and understanding matrix organization complexity
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop employees
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred:
• Experience with data analytics & artificial intelligence
• Aluminum sheet rolling / finishing experience in automotive, can stock and industrial or common alloy products
• Familiarity with Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and scientific methods for problem-solving.
• Lean manufacturing experience
